How to Use an Eye Massager: A Step-by-Step Guide
Using an eye massager takes about two minutes to learn. Here is how to get a comfortable fit, pick the right mode, and time your sessions so they actually help you unwind.
The short version: take off your glasses or lenses, put the massager on over closed eyes, start on the lowest setting, and relax for 10 to 15 minutes. The rest of this guide covers the details that make the difference between "that was nice" and a habit you keep.
Before your first session
- Charge it fully. The first charge over USB-C takes about 90 minutes. A full battery lasts many sessions.
- Remove glasses and contact lenses. The massager rests over your closed eyelids. Lenses should never be in during a session.
- Take off eye makeup if you can. It keeps the padding clean.
- Read the leaflet in the box for the button layout on your unit.
Step 1: Get the fit right
Hold the massager over your eyes and pull the strap around the back of your head. Adjust it until the padding touches your face all the way around without pressing hard. You should be able to slide a finger under the strap. If it feels tight across your forehead, loosen it a little. A snug, light fit works better than a tight one.

Step 2: Sit back or lie down
Recline on a sofa, lean back in your office chair, or lie down. Rest your head so your neck is supported. Don't walk around, cook or read with the massager on. You can't see while wearing it.
Step 3: Choose a mode and heat level
Press the power button once to start. The Enmode eye massager has 5 relaxation modes that mix heat, air compression, vibration and music in different ways. Start with heat on the lowest of the 3 levels and the gentlest compression. You can move up once you know how it feels.
A simple way to find your favourite: try one mode per day for the first week. By day five you will know which one you reach for.
Step 4: Add music (optional)
Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and pair it with the massager like any wireless speaker. Play something slow: instrumental music, rain sounds, or a podcast you like. Keep the volume low. The speaker sits close to your ears.
Step 5: Relax for 10 to 15 minutes
Breathe slowly and let your shoulders drop. Switch it off after 10–15 minutes if your unit does not stop on its own. If the warmth ever feels too hot or the pressure uncomfortable, switch it off and take the massager off.
Step 6: Ease back in
When the session ends, take the massager off and keep your eyes closed for a few seconds. Then open them slowly and blink a few times. Your eyes may feel warm and a bit watery for a minute. That's normal.
How long and how often?
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Session length | 10–15 minutes |
| Sessions per day | 1–2 |
| Best times | After work, during a long study break, or 20–30 minutes before bed |
| Heat level to start | Level 1 (lowest) |
More is not better here. Two short sessions a day are plenty.
Common mistakes
- Starting on the highest setting. Work up to it.
- Strapping it too tight. Firm pressure is not the goal.
- Using it with lenses in. Always take them out.
- Falling asleep with it on every night. Use it before bed, then take it off.
- Sharing without cleaning. Wipe the padding between users.
Cleaning and storage
Switch it off and unplug it. Wipe the padding with a soft, slightly damp cloth, then let it air-dry. Never put the massager in water or use harsh cleaners. Fold it and keep it in the carry pouch, away from direct sun.
